Applications for the 2015 Fall Semester’s TMZ Prototype Accelerator, Internship to the zone or the new Think Tank program are open.

The Transmedia Zone supports new ideas and practical prototyping on the future of content.  With a focus on emerging platforms and true innovation, the Zone supports projects from students or industry members.  We put a priority on collaborative cross-disciplinary work, with teams sharing expertise and experience as they take their projects from concept to prototype, and beyond.

Located in the heart of the RTA School of Media, the Transmedia Zone provides an entrepreneurial experience for it’s students and alumni, and an opportunity to connect with those in the community who push the boundaries of content and storytelling. Our exceptional team accept pitches from prospective Residents three times a year (in the winter, summer and fall) and incubate a new cohort for four months at a time. During this time, Residents get access to a co-working environment with dedicated desk space, equipment, facilities and professional mentorship on every aspect of the project. We also accept Interns at the start of each cohort who are paired with a project in order to learn new skills and apply their talents. Learn more about how to get involved or apply here!

The Transmedia Zone is now 1 year old and has grown rapidly from 15 incubates (January 2014) to 90 people (January 2015)! We can’t thank our network enough for their support and dedication to the development of our Zone. Meet our current Transmedia Zone Residents here.

Our space is also home to a variety of exciting events that foster and build upon our mandates of design thinking and creative ideation. From Hackathons to Symposiums and everything in between, we execute an array of events that bring together Toronto’s thought leaders, companies who make a difference and our passionate student body to collaborate and invent the future of storytelling. Take a look at our past and current events here.

Along with the Digital Media Zone, the Transmedia Zone is part of Ryerson’s Zone Learning initiative. Click to find out more about Zone Learning.
